Claire has over 15 years experience in professional negligence claims and specialises in insurance litigation. She defends lawyers in professional negligence claims including defence, coverage, and regulatory issues, in addition to advising professional indemnity insurers on matters relating to policy coverage. Claire also defends accountants and insurance brokers. Claire’s caseload includes many high-value and complex claims as well as more straightforward matters.
Claire combines technical ability with a commercially focused approach, and prides herself on the friendly professionalism she brings to matters, particularly in supporting the professional behind the allegations.
Claire’s recent experience includes:
- Successfully defending a £46m claim at trial against a firm arising from full-service advice given on a vehicle dealership
- Success at trial on a £1.4m D&O claim relating to the sale of the goodwill of a luxury gifting and personal shopping business
- Successfully avoiding a claim relating to a £3.3m proposed property development for a firm alleged to have breached their duty of confidentiality in relation to confidential commercial information
- Success at trial in defending a claim relating to conveyancing advice on rural land bordering a railway and alleged issues caused by that boundary
- Advising on numerous claims relating to property frauds
- Advising on claims relating to Court of Protection work including professional deputyships
