Andrés Durán

Partner

Toronto

Well-known and respected in Canada’s infrastructure sector, Andrés has significant experience in construction, operations and maintenance, and other general infrastructure matters.

Before joining Beale & Co as a Partner, Andrés ran his own legal practice acting for large multi-national construction, architecture and engineering companies in various sectors including nuclear. Andrés’ practice supported clients on a number of mandates which included a large progressive design-build project procurement, advisory work on active P3 projects as well as complex design and engineering services and equipment supply contracts.

Andrés was previously SVP and General Counsel at one of Canada’s largest construction and infrastructure services companies. He has been involved in several of the largest and most complex projects in Canada acting in different capacities in project development, bidding, construction, operations and maintenance and in a project advisory capacity. Several of these projects have been recognized as the top infrastructure projects in Canada year over year.

Andrés has also overseen and managed complex disputes and insurance litigation files over his in-house career.

In 2019, Andrés was a finalist for the General Counsel of the Year by the Canadian General Counsel Awards, and his legal group won Law Department of the Year in 2022 by the Canadian Law Awards in the construction, infrastructure, and transportation sector.

With a passion for the well-being of the industry and for the importance of growing the availability of affordable housing, Andrés has acted on a construction project for a not-for-profit emergency housing owner and operator in the Greater Toronto Area, and is a Board member of Building Up, a not-for-profit social enterprise in the construction sector in Toronto, and Chair of its Fundraising Committee.

Andrés is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Canadian Hispanic Bar Association.

Andrés is not a certified specialist in Ontario.
