Beale and Company Appointments

Beale and Company Solicitors has appointed three partners, seven associates and three assistants.

New Joiners

Tom Pemberton joined the firm as a partner in September, he will be adding significant capacity and expertise to the non-contentious construction and projects work carried out by the firm in the UK and internationally. Tom’s is widely connected within the construction and engineering industry and works closely with a number of professional bodies and industry organisations such as the ACE and CECA. Tom joins former Shadbolt LLP colleagues Simon Delves and Will Buckby both of whom joined the firm last year.

Damian McPhun will join the firm’s insurance arm as a partner on 1 November 2011 from Barlow Lyde and Gilbert. He is a well respected insurance litigator and brings with him a wealth of experience in property claims, professional indemnity and directors’ and officers’ liability. He has worked with some of the largest insurers in the market.

James Reid has also joined the firm’s insurance practice from Berrymans Lace Mawer. James has experience of advising employers, major insurers, contractors as well as engineers and architects on construction and insurance law in addition to the practice and procedure of all forms of dispute resolution. James is a qualified Solicitor-Advocate.

Promotions

In addition to the new appointments to the firm we are delighted to announce a number of promotions with effect from 1 October 2011.

James Hutchinson has been made up to a partner within the firm’s corporate services department. James specialises in a range of corporate work including acquisitions and sales of businesses, management buyouts/buyins, company formations, shareholders agreements and IT/IP agreements. He has a particular interest in Internet law and regulation and advises a number of popular websites. After qualifying at the firm James joined the corporate finance team at Pinsent Masons before returning to Beale and Company.

Lesley Johnstone, Ian Masser and Nathan Modell have been promoted to associates. All three trained with the firm and specialise in advising architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors, solicitors and their professional indemnity insurers.

Will Buckby and Claire Miller, who are part of the international construction and engineering team have been made up to associates. Claire focuses mainly on dispute resolution for employers, contractors, engineers and consultants while Will advises on non-contentious construction, engineering and property development matters.

Lasairfhíona Ní Laighin has been promoted to associate in the firm’s Dublin branch. Lasairfhíona specialises in professional negligence and commercial litigation.

Becky Purse and Andrew Croft have also been appointed as assistants having recently completed their training contracts with the firm.
