Wilhelm (Wil) is a Senior Associate in the Financial & Professional Risks Group in the Bristol office.
He specialises in defending claims brought against a wide range of professionals and their professional indemnity insurers. He also advised on policy coverage issues.
Wil has completed secondments with both insurers and major professional clients. Most recently, he spent time with a global insurance broker, where his work was described as “exceptional”.
Wil also has a strong commercial and M&A background gained at leading law firms in London and abroad at Webber Wentzel, in alliance with Linklaters, at the time the number one ranked firm in South Africa. He acted for FTSE 100 and JSE 40 clients on major cross border transactions, such as Anheuser Busch InBev’s acquisition of SABMiller, at the time the fourth largest deal globally.
This dual background equips Wil with strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify risk early, shape strategy, and deliver pragmatic business-focused solutions.
His skillset has also enabled him to provide an extensive risk audit service for law firms aimed at reducing their professional indemnity exposure.
Wil is qualified in England & Wales and South Africa. He prides himself on his attention to detail, approachability, and down to earth manner.
Outside work, Wil enjoys both watching and participating in sport, hiking, travelling, and spending time with his family.
