Beale & Company advised BAM Nuttall as a member of the Kier BAM Joint Venture in the negotiation of one of the key construction contracts for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station which was signed in October 2015. The £203m contract will see the delivery of the first phase of this key new nuclear project, which is set to generate around seven per cent of the UK’s electricity.

The work includes the excavation of over 5.5 million cubic metres of material, large scale earthworks, complex terracing structures and the creation of an expansive road network to enable other key contractors to progress their work.

The signature of the contracts was widely reported in the media and marked a key stage in the collaboration between EDF Energy and China General Nuclear Power Corporation who are expected to be a major investor in the Hinkley Point C project.

Beale & Company were retained by BAM Nuttall to represent them in the negotiations between the Joint Venture and the project company which owns the site.

Tom Pemberton, Partner, Beale & Company said: “We were delighted to be able to advise BAM Nuttall in this high profile project that will support the future energy needs of the UK”.
