ADJUDICATION MATTERS: A GLOBAL OVERVIEW
December 2025As a summary of the commonality and differences in the statutory adjudication procedure across the main jurisdictions Beale & Co act in, we bring you an Overview of Adjudication in England & Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Ontario: Beale & Co – Adjudication matters article
Adjudication serves as an important interim dispute resolution mechanism that provides a more cost-effective way to resolve disputes in the construction industry. At Beale & Co we have acted in hundreds of adjudications since the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and the Scheme for Construction Contracts (England & Wales) Regulations 1998 came into force and have seen the forum used for a wide range of disputes under construction contracts for construction operations. It is a forum that continues to be widely used and is growing in the number of jurisdictions adopting it as an interim resolution tool.
We hope you find this summary a useful guide, particularly if you operate in these jurisdictions. If you require support in any actual or potential adjudication then please reach out to James Vernon (England & Wales and Northern Ireland), Killian Dorney (the Republic of Ireland), Fraser Hopkins (Scotland), Nadir Hasan (Canada) and Claire Miller (UAE).
