Slavery and Human Trafficking statement

This statement comprises the slavery and human trafficking statement of Beale & Company Solicitors LLP (the “firm”) for the financial year ending 30 September 2016. The firm is not required to make this statement pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 but does so as if that section did apply.

The firm is a provider of commercial legal services with a particular focus in the construction engineering and infrastructure, insurance, professions and technology sectors. The firm has 120 employees worldwide and has a global annual turnover of £15,000,000.

The firm's business

The firm has a permanent presence in the following jurisdictions:

• England and Wales
• The Republic of Ireland through its branch practising under the name Beale & Company; and
• The United Arab Emirates, through branch office Beale & Company (Middle East).

The firm’s business outside of these locations is carried on primarily within Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The firm's policy on Slavery and Human Trafficking

Within the present financial year the firm has implemented a policy, the Modern Slavery Policy (the “Policy”), aimed at ensuring that no modern slavery or human trafficking takes place in any part of the firm’s business or supply chain.

The Policy reflects the firm’s commitment to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls aimed at combating slavery and human trafficking. Responsibility for the Policy rests with the firm’s Executive Committee.

Supplier adherence to the firm's values and ethics

The firm has a zero tolerance policy towards slavery and human trafficking. In order to ensure that all persons within the firm’s supply chain comply with the firm’s values and ethics the Policy also includes measures targeted at the firm’s suppliers and business partners.

Training

In order to ensure proper understanding of the risks posed by modern slavery and human trafficking in the context of the firm’s supply chains and our business, the firm intends to provide training to its employees as appropriate.
