Priya Thakrar - 1st Year Trainee, London

Priya Thakrar

I am currently sat in the Contentious Construction team. I have thoroughly enjoyed the seat so far, having had the opportunity to work on both larger and smaller cases, as well as attending various client calls and meetings. Initially, I was allocated to a number of different cases, which meant that I could be fully involved as each dispute progressed, regularly liaising with different partners and fee-earners.

A smaller trainee intake means that early responsibility is encouraged, working to deadlines and managing different matters simultaneously is common. I am regularly involved in drafting key documents, including Claim Forms or Letter of Responses, as well as more technical tasks such as disclosure.

Outside of dispute work, Beale & Co encourages trainees to write articles for the firm’s website and get involved with business development. I have attended several construction talks and networking events, and recently gave a presentation to one of our clients’ legal department.

Beale & Co is a great firm to train at and the fact that many partners at the firm began their careers as trainees here truly demonstrates that.
