Sadaff is a Senior Associate in the Dubai office of Beale & Co. She is recognised as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 Middle East Construction and “stands out as thoroughly informed and well-prepared.”

She has over 10 years experience in international arbitration and dispute resolution with a focus on construction disputes. She has represented large regional developers, contractors and subcontractors on significant and complex construction and infrastructure disputes in arbitrations particularly in the Middle East and under institutional rules including the DIAC, DIFC-LCIA, ADCCAC and the Swiss Rules of International Arbitration.

Prior to joining the firm, she worked in house with a Saudi owned contractor having a presence across the UAE and KSA managing their arbitration and litigation portfolio (which extended to over 150 disputes in total). She also advised on a multi-million dollar shareholder dispute and infrastructure projects such as the Ras Al Khaimah Ring Road project. In addition to project advisory, her non-contentious experience includes drafting construction contracts modelled on FIDIC and bespoke construction contracts for developers, contractors and subcontractors.

She also sits as arbitrator and has been appointed by the Dubai International Arbitration Centre on real estate and construction disputes. Sadaff is a member of the CIArb Middle East Branch Committee, is an Assistant Editor for the Africa region with the Kluwer Arbitration Blog and regularly contributes to the blog. She was recently appointed as a buddy on the Young ICCA Mentorship programme. Sadaff regularly speaks at conferences, delivers training sessions and has published articles on construction and international arbitration.

Examples of Sadaff's recent exprience include:

  • Representing a joint venture operator in a DIFC-LCIA Arbitration involving a reverse osmosis desalination plant in Sohar, Oman. Disputes including the calculation of payment entitlement, defects in the plant, issues of force majeure and source water quality failure.
  • Acted for a leading Middle East contractor in DIAC arbitration proceedings in the UAE under the law of a GCC state regarding the construction of a supertall skyscraper, with an amount in dispute of c. USD100 million. Matters in dispute included jurisdiction, extension of time, variations, delay and valuation of works.
  • Advised a reputable contractor in Dubai in relation to a potential dispute against a developer in relation to a high rise tower in Dubai Marina. Matters advised on include securing a precautionary attachment, completing the dispute resolution process under FIDIC 4th edition 1987; advising on extension of time claims and prolongation costs.
  • Advised the contractor on the Dubai Metro 2020 on issues such as under certification, variations, extension of time, prolongation claims and specification issues.
